February is the month of love! And, although not romantically speaking, I love all of our surrogates at Tomorrow’s Parents International.
I do have one particular surrogate that I want to write about, Shanny!
We once had a difficult match. The Intended Mother was not open to communication. This is hard, but understandable. As a beautiful, successful, athletic woman, she could do anything except give her husband and their family a child. After several miscarriages they had turned to surrogacy.
Our routine initial phone call was a bit awkward, but then the Intended Mother said these words I will never forget… “This is like I am planning my wedding by proxy, when I wanted to wear the dress”. Wow!
Shanny understood and chose to continue the journey with this couple and become their gestational carrier. After a few months, what had started out as a distant relationship turned into group texts about second families! It warmed my heart!!
On the day of delivery, Shanny’s OB was called into surgery, so a midwife performed the delivery. Some complications arose that caused Shanny to require blood transfusions. She did not want to take away from the new parents’ day of joy, so she decided not to bring it to their attention.
When Shanny finally told me about the transfusions, we paid for her mother’s lost wages to be with her and kept it from the parents as long as we could, at her request. When she allowed me to tell them they said, “We knew she was hiding something!!” They completely stepped up to the plate and took care of her.
Shanny is fully recovered now and is matched with another couple who had their embryo transfer today! She is praying that it is successful, as are we! I am grateful for selfless surrogates like Shanny, who make all of this possible.
Thank you. Shanny!!
It is very rare to find an altruist surrogate mother, not everyone has such a person to whom you can trust the nurturing and birth of your child. As for me, it is better to use the services of proven surrogate mothers through some clinic than to take risks. To begin with, we chose the clinic for a long time, stopped at the Ukrainian clinic of Professor Feskov which is called Feskov Human Reproduction Group.
Then, we were given access to the database of their surmas, we watched photos, questionnaires, chose. The clinic guarantees physical and psychological health of every mother. Then we went to Kharkiv, signed a contract, got acquainted with the chosen surrogate mother, we liked it very much! We entered the protocol. And now the child is almost six months! I wish to everyone good luck and healthy babies))
