Sara Clay

Founder/Attorney

Sara has four children of her own and has dedicated her professional career to helping others navigate their surrogacy journey. Since 2003 Sara has focused her legal expertise in the arena of reproductive law where her passion and spirit truly show. Sara founded TPI after many years of representing surrogates knowing that surrogates need to be supported by experts who understand the details of surrogacy and share her passion to help change lives.

Rebecca Sumner

Director of Operations

As TPI’s former Surrogacy Coordinator, Rebecca has supported countless gestational carriers throughout their journeys over the past eleven years and continues to maintain meaningful relationships with many of them today. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially when board games or a great movie are involved. In her current role as Director of Operations, Rebecca oversees TPI’s administrative functions while providing thoughtful guidance and support to both intended parents and surrogates. She is deeply passionate about this work, knowing that each step brings families closer to an extraordinary blessing. With her extensive experience and genuine commitment, she looks forward to assisting you in any way she can to help make your journey a positive and fulfilling one.

Nick Sumner

Paralegal for Sara M. Clay. P.C.

Nick has been a valued member of Sara’s team since 2018, joining as her paralegal shortly after completing Kennesaw State University’s Paralegal Certificate Program. Over the years, he has supported parents from across the globe, guiding them through one of the most meaningful journeys of their lives with steadiness, respect, and genuine care.

Outside of work, Nick enjoys time with family and friends, playing games, and being outdoors. His passion for helping others shines through in everything he does, and he is grateful for the opportunity to assist parents worldwide as they grow their families.

Leesa Colstad

Surrogacy Coordinator

Leesa, having been with TPI for several years, loves her role as TPI’s surrogacy coordinator. She vets our gestational carriers and gets to know them. She provides them with the support and dedication that is needed when in this role. She makes herself available to them 24/7 so that they know their needs are important and will be met. Our gestational carriers all look to her for advice, guidance, and support, which are provided in constant supply. Leesa has also experienced the emotional journey that goes hand in hand with infertility. She and her husband struggled with infertility for over ten years. She chose to grow her family not only through infertility treatment, but through adoption as well. She has two adopted beautiful girls, and a set of twins conceived via fertility treatment. She is able to identify with our Intended Parents on a personal level because of this.

Julie Morin

Medical Coordinator

Julie is most passionate about advocating for women’s health and she looks forward to guiding you through your journey with the clinics and to answer any general questions that you may have about the medical aspects of a surrogacy journey. Julie has also been a surrogate herself for a colleague at the clinic she previously worked at for nearly 10 years. She is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse practitioner as well and was the nurse for two of the most reputable and established doctors that specialize in IVF treatments.

Christal McNair

Director of Finance

Christal McNair serves as Director of Finance, bringing over three decades of experience in financial leadership, business operations, and relationship management. She is passionate about helping organizations create strong financial foundations while supporting long-term growth and meaningful impact.

Her professional background includes commercial banking, strategic financial planning, nonprofit leadership, and small business ownership. Christal is known for her practical, people-centered approach and her ability to bring clarity, organization, and strategic insight to growing organizations.

When she is not working, Christal enjoys spending time with her family. She has been married to her husband, David, for almost 30 years, and together they have two grown daughters and two grandchildren who proudly call her “Gigi.” Family, faith, volunteering, and giving back to the community remain at the heart of who she is.

Amber Patterson

Assistant Surrogacy Coordinator

Amber is an experienced administrative and operations professional with more than 15 years of expertise in organizational management, client service, and operational excellence. She brings a strong sense of empathy, attention to detail, and professionalism to every interaction. As the proud mother of a teenage son, Amber understands the importance of family, compassion, and meaningful connections. Passionate about supporting others during important life moments, she is dedicated to combining her administrative expertise with a genuine heart for helping families, guiding clients through each step of an emotionally meaningful process with care and compassion.
